A BRIEF HISTORY
The Bleu Lights came on the scene in 1967 composed of Larry
Hart, Lee Gordon, and brothers Al and Phil Townes. They added Charles Williams
(now deceased) as a member in the second year of their existence. They recorded
on Bay Sound Records from 1967 through 1972.
In 1990 when I formed Gumption Records – I sought the four original members. All but Larry Hart agreed to “Let’s Do It Again.” Since then many members have come and gone, but the trio of Lee, Al, and Phil persisted. Two members, (Lou Law and Charlie Davis), who have been with the Bleu Lights on and off over the past eighteen years appear on the latest CD
Original lead singer Lee Gordon gives the performance of a lifetime. Charlie Davis – a true crooner – joins him on some cuts and is featured on several others. Lou adds special first-tenor flavor as well as some nice falsetto. The Townes brothers are second tenor and baritone respectively. Yvonne Simmons also sings with the Lights on this collection. The Bleu Lights truly are romance personified!
