Recording Studio Training

Are you interested in recording studio training and learning more about how to run a recording studio, or just more about recording and mixing your own music? Basement Floor Productions now offers individualized sessions at our Baltimore recording studio designed to meet your unique needs.

Instead of having classes with dozens of students we prefer to teach one on one. That way we don’t move on to the next step until you fully understand each lesson. Each hands-on session is tailored to your level of experience – no need to waste time rehashing things you already know.

For beginners we start off with the very basics such as the art of hearing. In the case of the advanced student, we can adjust the sessions to suit your needs and personal preferences.

During these recording studio training sessions you will learn:

  • Audio mixing techniques – mic placement on various sources – guitar amps,
    drums, vocals, acoustic instruments, etc.
  • Room acoustics and how to make them work for you – not against you.
  • How to use various outboard analog processors such as Eq, compressors, reverbs, direct boxes, preamps, etc.
  • Analog & digital recording techniques.
  • Mixing in the box.
  • Mixing in the analog world.
  • Using both digital and analog to get the best of both worlds.
  • You’ll work with world class microphones such as Neumann, AKG, RCA, Shure, Sennheiser, etc.
  • Classic audio processors such as Neve, DBX, Lexicon, Trident, Universal Audio, etc.
  • Learn how to work with modern digital processors known as plugins.

You’ll be able to work at your own speed, and you can set up a schedule that works best for you.

You will be working one on one with sound engineer, musician, professional songwriter & record producer Tim Miskimon.Tim has spent the past 40 years recording, producing & engineering hundreds of albums and live concerts for local, regional & national recording artists.

Prices for recording studio training sessions are very reasonable.Give us a call at our recording studio today at 410-477-4940 – we’d be happy to discuss the many options available to you.
